March marks the craziest month in terms of Electronic Music. From around the world producers flock to North America to showcase their newest work and drunkenly network in the sunshine of Miami during Winter Music Conference and Ultra Music Festival. However, happening a little further North during this time is Toronto's legendary Bass Week. Able to snatch up some of the biggest names in bass music while they are making their WMC pilgrimage, Destiny has hosted some the largest names in Drum and Bass for the past three years during Bass Week. Andy C, Delta Heavy, Doctor P, High Contrast, Camo & Krooked, Netsky, are those that graced us with their presence last year and this year has only gotten better.
This years drum and bass line up is HUGE:
RAM RECORDS:
+ ANDY C
+ DELTA HEAVY
+ LOADSTAR
+ RENE LAVICE
HOSPITAL RECORDS:
+ HIGH CONTRAST
+ FRED V & GRAFIX
+ CAMO & KROOKED
Last year the RAM night of Bass Week, always the Friday of the weekend, brought us our good friend Andy C alongside RAM's Delta Heavy, with Circus Record's Doctor P bringing a dose of dubstep for the heads. The energy inside GUV mainroom that night was incredible with Delta Heavy's Ben throwing himself into a screaming crowd halfway through his set, to be crowd surfed then returned to stage to finish the set that had sweat pouring off everyone in the room.
Andy C's set needs no description... but if you need a reminder of what it is like to rave with the god himself here you go. Mixing in a way that every other DJ aspires to do, Andy's sets are structured in a way that the only time you stop moving is when your legs give out from under you.
The Saturday night of Bass Week always brings you a night of Hospitality that gives the previous night with RAM a run for its money. Last year inside the 3000 capacity Kool Haus the Hospitality Tour brought us Hospital Records favourites High Contrast, Netsky and Camo & Krooked with Dynamite MC in support to keep the crowd hyped. This night was absolute insanity. You know that a party is good when the head promoter himself throws himself off stage into a screaming crowd of 2000+ people.Riding off the power of his album released only a few weeks before, High Contrast opened the night with his track 'The Agony & Ecstasy' and it set the tone of the night perfectly. Camo & Krooked brought double the energy by having both in the booth and got everyone ready for the legendary Netsky to take to the stage... and when he did, the crowd went absolutely nuts. We then had Toronto's dubstep don Hydee come on stage to close the night after the Hospital crew had everyone dancing for 4 hours without a break.
The amazing thing about Bass Week is how it unites all the bass heads of Toronto. Whether you're a junglist, dubstepper, enjoy the breaks or one of the wicked people who love it all, the companies in Toronto join forces to bring you not just a weekend, but a week of amazing music. This year Embrace will be bringing you Dillon Francis as part of his ' WURLD TURR ' (seriously... thats what its called ) as well as the mighty Excision alongside Paper Diamond. Also paired up with Toronto Jungle and World of Drum and Bass we will also be having Nicky Blackmarket as well as Grooverider and Skibadee touching down.
Needless to say Bass Week is massive. Grab your wristbands now. Many of these shows are all included with your wristband, with some wicked perks such as line by pass for shows that your band cant get you into (Dillon Francis at The Hoxton).
Tickets start at $69 for a wristband.
